Atiq Rehman, MD


Dr. Atiq Rehman is Director of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. Board certified, he is an innovator in cardiothoracic surgery, having spearheaded the development of robotic coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and minimally invasive mitral valve repair.

In his previous position at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida, Dr. Rehman directed the robotic and minimally invasive cardiac surgery program and the transcatheter valve program. He also served as a clinical assistant professor at Columbia University. Currently, Dr. Rehman is working with the MIT Media Lab on a spectrally encoded peripheral vision endoscope.

Dr. Rehman earned his medical degree from the Aga Khan University School of Medicine, performed a surgical residency at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College and completed an internship at SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse. He completed fellowships in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine and robotic/minimally invasive cardiac surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore.

Dr. Rehman is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as multiple medical societies.

He has authored 30 peer-reviewed publications and has presented his research at national and international medical conferences.
